America 250 Projects
On March 23, 1775 Patrick Henry gave his famous “Give me liberty or give me death!” speech, and on April 19, 1775 the American Revolution began at Lexington, Massachusetts with the “shot heard around the world!” Our nation was formally declared on July 4, 1776 and on August 2 the founders began signing the Declaration of Independence. The time period we are celebrating is our Semiquincentennial, also called the Bisesquicentennial, the Sestercentennial, America 250, or the Quarter Millennium. It is the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Below are some of the ways we are helping Americans celebrate:

This is the first of four pages of our Convention Program. “I Declare Independence” is an interactive, simulated experience for students! Participants are Continental Delegates with the quest to become FOUNDING PATRIOTS. On the day of the event, delegates (students) come to an assembly (script and video links provided) and learn about the Second Continental Congress of 1776. Then students are taken through the Declarations of Freedom by Convention Officials (parents/teachers/volunteers) where they make declarations of freedom in their official convention credentials (booklets). Upon completion of the Declarations, delegates return for the closing assembly where they learn about the risks and hopes the Founding Fathers expected when they signed the Declaration of Independence. Then students formally sign their own copy of the Declaration of Independence and become FOUNDING PATRIOTS! Upon completion of the simulation, students receive their personalized America 250 Keepsake. Download the free documents to print and media to use for this simulation!

This is the front of our America 250 keepsake. Upon completion of the simulation, participants receive this keepsake and are deemed a “Founding Patriot!” This keepsake is suitable for framing.
If you would like consultation and training on how to implement this simulation please email or text me.
